Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is a program conducted by University of Cincinnati law students who volunteer their time to assist low- and middle-income and elderly persons in the preparation of their tax returns. The program is recognized by, and works closely with, the Internal Revenue Service, which provides tax forms, training, and technical assistance and publicizes the program. Established at the University of Cincinnati in 1978, VITA provides practical experience in the preparation of tax returns.
