Cincinnati Lawyer Jonathan C. Bennie Selected to Receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 & Under

CINCINNATI,  October 2, 2103

The law firm of Barron, Peck, Bennie & Schlemmer Co., LPA (BPBS) is proud to announce that partner, Jonathan C. Bennie, has been selected to receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation District Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 & Under.  Jonathan was selected to receive this award for his outstanding service to the Cincinnati community.

Outside of his legal practice at BPBS, Jonathan volunteers his time and talent to a number of local Cincinnati organizations and understands the importance of community.  He has been fortunate to participate in a number of community leadership programs, including the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s C-Change program.  Jonathan helps lead the local chapter of ReadAloud 15 Minutes, a non-profit working to make reading aloud every day the new standard in child care.  He also is secretary and sponsor committee co-chair for The Hyde Park Blast, an organization that raises money to fight cancer.  Additional board positions include the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Foundation, an organization committed to feeding the hungry, and the Kairos Foundation, which supports members of the St. Xavier High School community who suffer from a prolonged medical disability. On the weekends, Jonathan commits Saturday afternoons to participating in services at St. Margaret Hall.

Edward Marks, retired partner with BPBS,  notes  “It’s refreshing to watch the dynamic attitude Jonathan exhibits in his ventures. He tackles his volunteer commitments with the right attitude - that we live in this community, and our training as lawyers obligates us to give back to our community.”

Jonathan will be presented with the 2013 Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under for District 1 at District 1 Annual Meeting to be held in the Spring or 2014.

Jonathan is partner in the law firm of Barron, Peck, Bennie & Schlemmer, LPA in Cincinnati, Ohio. He practices primarily in the areas of real estate and business law, with a portion of his practice devoted to litigation.

The Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under is presented to attorneys, 40 years of age or younger, who contribute substantial time and effort in service to a local social service or to a local civic, artistic or cultural organization. The service must be outside the recipients’ practice of law and given without compensation. Emphasis is placed on current service. Recipients represent the ideals of the legal profession and, by example, are a credit to the profession.
