Practical Experiences

Do the work of a lawyer under the supervision of a practicing lawyer or judge through our clinics, centers, and externship programs. Interview a criminal inmate who claims to be innocent of the charges that sent him to jail. Represent a victim of domestic violence in court or an indigent criminal defendant at trial. Draft employment contracts for a start-up business. Or spend a summer working in Botswana on human rights issues. At UC Law, you can develop your professional skills in real world settings.

Opportunities to hone your trial advocacy and legal writing skills also are readily available. Participate in Moot Court or on the trial practice team. Join the staff of one of our five student-edited journals. Contribute to writing competitions. You also can help improve our community while volunteering with local organizations for transcript recognition.
