August A. Rendigs, Jr. National Products Liability Moot Court Competition

The UC Law Moot Court Honor Board is proud to host the 34th Annual August A. Rendigs, Jr. National Moot Court Competition. The Rendigs Competition is the only national competition devoted to products liability law. The competition honors Mr. August A. Rendigs, Jr. (1895-1988), one of Cincinnati’s most respected trial lawyers. This competition is open to twenty teams from ABA-accredited law schools.

The competition will take place over two days, February 19-20, 2021. Past judges for the final round of the competition have included federal and state judges from around the country.

Relevant Dates and Deadlines

  • Registration Opens: November 6, 2020
  • Registration Closes: December 11, 2020
  • Problem Release: January 1, 2021
  • Briefs Due: February 1, 2021
  • Competition: February 19-20, 2021

The competition problem will be released on Friday, January 1st 2021, submissions will be due no later than 11:59 PM EST on Monday, February 1st 2021. 

Requests for interpretations of brief rules and issues will be allowed until 11: 59 PM EST on Friday, January 15th and a clarification email will be released to all teams on Monday, January 18th.

The competition fee is $200 for the first team and $100 for the second team (from the same school). Teams can consist of 2-3 members.
