Reciprocity
Reciprocity for UC College of Law Students & Alumni
Reciprocity is an agreement between law school career services offices to provide students or graduates of other ABA-accredited law schools access to the resources of their office. The resources available via reciprocity typically are limited to the review of job postings. Similarly, most schools implement a “blackout period” during fall on-campus interviews. Current UC Law students or alumni wishing to apply for reciprocity from another law school must contact the Center for Professional Development (cpdlaw@uc.edu) for a letter of introduction. A current list of other law school’s reciprocity policies can be found at the The Association for Legal Career Professional’s (NALP) website.
Reciprocity for Non-UC College of Law Students & Alumni
Reciprocity from the University of Cincinnati College of Law (the “College of Law”) is available to law students and graduates of ABA-accredited law schools (the “Requestor”) under the following terms and conditions:
- No reciprocity shall be granted for the period between August 1 and November 1.
- All requests for reciprocity must be made by a member of the career services staff of the Requestor’s law school via email to cpdlaw@uc.edu. This written request must contain the following:
- An acknowledgement that the Requestor has read and understands our reciprocity policy.
- The first and last name, email address, and class year of the requesting student or graduate.
- A link to or copy of the Requestor’s law school’s reciprocity policy. If the law school has no reciprocity policy, there should be some confirmation that reasonably equivalent reciprocal services would be available to the College of Law’s students.
- The College of Law shall endeavor to respond to any request within a week of receipt of such email.
- Access to 12twenty shall be available for three months after the reciprocity request is granted. Any request for renewal of reciprocity access shall be made by a member of the career services staff of the Requestor’s law school via email to cpdlaw@uc.edu.
- Granting of reciprocity does not grant the Requestor any rights to participate in On-Campus Interviews, resume collections, counseling services, programming, workshops, or events. In addition, granting of reciprocity does not grant the Requestor any right, above and beyond which already exist to the public, to physically access to the College of Law or any of the facilities located therein.
- Decisions about reciprocity are made on a case-by-case basis, and the College of Law reserves the right to revoke or deny reciprocity to individuals who misuse the privileges or do not comply with the College of Law policies.
- The College of Law reserves the right to suspend access given to Requestor in the event Requestor’s law school’s reciprocity policy becomes substantially disproportionate to the College of Law’s.
- The College of Law reserves the right to adjust this policy without further notice.
