Kate Flexter is the Rosenthal Post-graduate Fellow at the Ohio Innocence Project. Flexter is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where she earned her degree in broadcast and digital journalism. After a career as an on-air reporter for television stations around the country, Flexter earned her law degree at the University of Michigan Law School. While in law school, she worked for the Michigan Innocence Clinic with staff attorneys to successfully argue in favor of a woman who had been wrongfully convicted of the murder of her child, ultimately resulting in that client’s exoneration. Since joining the OIP, Flexter has been an integral part of the legal team that has secured the freedom of OIP’s clients, become a mentor to the law student fellows working in OIP, and served as a frequent and invaluable contributor to OIP’s education and engagement efforts.
