Evin King
Evin King served 23 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of murdering a woman in 1994. Despite no direct evidence of his guilt, he was convicted in 1995 and sentenced to 15 years to life prison.
Evin never gave up hope. After years of fighting for DNA testing, OIP finally won access to DNA test results, an evidentiary hearing, and to have a DNA profile uploaded to the FBI DNA database. Three months later, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley asked that Evin’s conviction be vacated. Evin was released on April 19, 2017.
On October 17, 2017, the prosecution dismissed the case.
Evin reunited with his family, including his beloved daughter, Venus. He resides in Northeast Ohio.
