Shantya Goddard is the Dinsmore Procter and Gamble OIP post-graduate Fellow at the Ohio Innocence Project. Goddard has the distinction of being a double Bearcat. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she earned her degree in criminal justice and served as a resident advisor. As an undergraduate student, she worked for a litigation firm in the Cincinnati area and a Washington, D.C., nonprofit serving immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. She is also a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law. During her legal education at the College of Law, Goddard served as a Fellow in OIP’s legal clinic, an extern in a federal court in Kentucky, and a motions specialist in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Since joining OIP, Goddard has become an integral part of the legal teams at OIP that investigate and litigate claims of innocence on behalf of OIP’s clients, and helps lead OIP’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts for students working in OIP’s legal clinic and policy services.
